SCHOOL COUNSELOR

Welcome to Ione Junior High’s Counseling Corner!

I’m Mrs. Flores, the school counselor at Ione Junior High School. As the school counselor, my primary goal is to guide and support all students, promoting their success both in school and in life. I serve as a resource for teachers, parents, administrators, and students, addressing personal, social, cultural, and educational conflicts or concerns. I also advocate for our students, families, and the community. If a student requires additional support beyond what I can offer at school, I can assist families in finding external counseling and therapy services.

My aim is to help students develop a positive self-image, build self-confidence, enhance their decision-making skills, and set realistic short- and long-term post-secondary goals. To achieve this, I work with students individually or in groups to improve their social skills. Students are encouraged to meet with me when they need a safe space to talk or seek guidance.

Here’s how students can request a meeting with me:

  • Ensure you have access to my Google Classroom for essential resources; ask for the code if needed.
  • Complete the Google Form titled “School Counselor Request Form for Students” found in the Google Classroom. I will prioritize meetings based on the urgency of the situation.
  • Teachers can also refer students to me for urgent concerns.
  • I’m generally available on campus before school, during breaks, and after school.
  • Students can reach out to me via email at susana.flores@acusd.org  if they’re unsure how to connect.

For families looking to connect with me:

  • If you want to refer your student for regular school counseling services (meeting individually with the counselor 2-4 times per month), please print, complete, and submit the referral form linked on this page.
  • If you have questions or concerns, feel free to email me at susana.flores@acusd.org  I’m available to answer your questions via email or arrange a phone/video meeting.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out; I’m here to support you and your students!
